Had an absolutely wonderful day on the rivers today. We meet the land owner for Benson falls. They are very concerned about access issues with white water boaters. She specifically asked us to not walk anywhere but on the Rocks at Benson Falls. She said its OK to scout from the rocks. She, being the land owner asked that if your walking at Benson falls, you walk on the road on river left. This road is river left above the rocks that we normally scout from. Its supposed to be an easy quick walk. They also own both sides of the river and most of the put ins that we use to access Benson creek. Please be respectful of the local land owners, especially at Benson falls. Don't walk on her flowers. She is really worried we will crush her flowers. Legally its a navigable stream, but they own the access points! Thank you Heather/ Mike L and Jason P for a wonderful fun filled day! Weeee Ha!!!! :) tim m
As for running the falls, they were a Huge Blast! Lots of yeeh ha and weeeee! Tons and tons of surfing on Benson and especially on Glens! There is a fairly new grill near Glens put in, with great food and clean restrooms. Its called Addie's. They served the four of us in our damp dry suits. Also we got free dessert. I had coconut cream pie! Wow yummy food and they like serving boaters! I hope every one got to boat today, there was some confusion as to who was boating where, just hope all that wanted to, got wet today! :)

Bob:

Thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't want to make you loop that far, if nobody local to me is headed that way I can drive myself . I was hoping that I could car pool with somebody. Save gas and also that way I could meet my better half at the festival after the race and we’d only have one car in Frankfort and so drive home together.

It might all be academic anyway. I don’t know who’s making the call but trying to get around the dam above 4000 with a bunch of people is not something I’m interested in trying. Actually, getting around the dam at above ~ 4300 isn’t something I’m interested in trying under any circumstances.

If I were looking for something quick in the Cincinnati area today, my choice would be Stonelick. Closer and steeper than Whiteoak, which I ran for the first time in an Aluminum Canoe about 32 years ago BTW.

While Whiteoak doesn't exactly washout, swims or mishaps can be epic when the level goes above 5000 cfs.

There is a short section below the Water Plant dam that has some decent whitewater too.
