Hey Folks,

The upcoming meeting is looking pretty crowded with a 20 minute program, the clinic video and the Eureka Moment contest judging. So, bearing that in mind, at the steering committee meeting last night we decided to move the throw rope contest to the September meeting at Elkhorn Acres. We figured that since we'll be outdoors there and unable to show video with ease, this would substitute nicely for a program.

So, throw rope competition will be at the September meeting at Elkhorn Acres. More time to practice and get that underhand lob down.

Just a reminder, we'll have two contests at the upcoming meeting. The second one will be held in the parking lot outside of Sontino's. Single elimination rope throwing target practice. Prize: Two prussics and two caribiners to go with them. Let's be practicing that rope throwing.

You do not need to bring a rope to participate. An extra rope will be provided to those in need.

Okay, to give folks something to do, to encourage everyone to learn how to use a throwrope, and to add some fun and a reason to attend the next meeting, I'm announcing a new contest. I will put up the prize for this contest myself and it will be a set of two 6mm prussic lines and a pair of caribiners to go with them. (Essential equipment for setting up a Z-drag).

The contest is simple. We will have a target set up in the parking lot and you just have to hit it with your throw rope. Single elimination (one miss and you're out). Everyone will throw once, then the remaining contenders will throw again, etc, until we have a winner. I reserve the right to make spot decisions as needed to keep the competition fair.

You may use your own throw rope or one of mine. The target will be upright and the goal will be to drape the rope across it, like a real throw rope throw, so dead on accuracy is less necessary than linear accuracy.

So, let's break out those ropes and start practicing. All BWA members in good standing are welcome to participate.
