I just thought I'd see if anyone who posts here had been to the new park in Charlotte. If so, what are your thoughts? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Personally I think it is a great resource.

Peace

Just be sure to tuck if you roll it is extremly shallow on most of the run. I busted up my face a while back right below M wave. Other than that it a great place to go for the weekend

I have been several times and enjoy it. It is nice that we have a place where the water is running even during droughts. It is shallow and a little hard on paddles though.

I have paddled the park many many times over the past three years and the place is awesome! It is a great place to playboat, work on ferries, and eddy hopping. The channels are not really that shallow. On occassion I have scraped my helmet but I have done that on rivers as well, but for the most part it is a safe place that is predictable and good to try new moves that you might not want to risk on a river. Experienced paddlers will love the park and will constantly find new features to entertain you. Beyond the paddling it is fun to grab a beer and hang out when done paddling. Come out and see the park.smiling smiley

My wife and I have bad a great time taking kayak lessons here from Pabalo. She is a timid new boater and the third lesson he had her swimming through the rapids to get the feel of things and comfortable going a T rescue in calm water. I finally had someone to help put a roll together even in moving water. He is also teaching new strokes and different ways to enter and leave a rapid. The facality it awesome or should I say it appears to be. I have only Kayaked there. There are lots of other none boating activities for the spouse or family. They even have a after school kayaking program for elementary students.
