Watauga is almost certain for this weekend. I know that once you're on the Watauga there is the very strong impetus to lap it, but if you have the time to do that you really ought to check out the Doe. I'd say it's likely to come up for Saturday too. It's primed right now, running 240 or so. One small rainstorm will send it over the edge. 300 and up is all good.

Watauga / Doe or laps sounds good to me! Whatever is running and fun. I'll just get up whenever to go! Have real GPS now so should be able to find new places! Would love to see something new... Got your msg YT .. if they're running, I'll be leaning toward the Watauga / Doe instead of the RF even though it is closer. We'll see how this develops!

Raining on my head in the Smokies right now at ten til midnight, Thursday. I noticed on the gauge that the Pigeon Dries is running at 1131 and seems to have been running every day this week. This is very close to my house and I have never been on it. Even YT could make this day trip. What do ya'll think? Has anybody been going over there recently that anyone knows of? This seems very interesting and promising.

Looking at water levels going up in several places this morning after the overnight blessing of rain. The gauge at Pigeon Dries I am looking at says 0.0. Still undecided on where to go.

Wes,
When are you leaving?

YT, the gauge I see says just over 900 in the Dries. Incidentally, it is still raining here, been raining all night and I see the Little gauge indicates a run. I think the Park is going to be happening if it continues to rain today all day like it is suppose to. Watauga is a juicy 450+ now. Doe is sub 300. Wish someone was here to boat today. Wait, I am going to call Chief!

My bad YT, you are right, the Dries are NOT running at the moment. Looks like they are releasing after noonish tho from the graph. But, still raining like crazy here in the park and it is only 8:30 almost. Anybody wanna boat here today? Little will be a run - can meet somebody over there this afternoon.

Almost noon, and it has stopped raining here, but more coming throughout the day. Note that RF is now over 2300 at Bartlick. The Dries of the Pigeon are running 791. I would not be surprised if Big Creek and Middle Prong don't come up by the end of the day. Rained pretty hard here this morning. Watauga is currently 407 and dropping. I will report more later.

Looks like the RF Gorge will be too high for me Brent so my plans are still to head your way in the a.m. Will touch base with you tonight so I can plan on when to head out in the a.m. geared for creekin. I'm thinking final plans won't form til then.

Yo Brent....that gauge on AW is no where near accurate. Its simply a virtual gauge. Looks like there is a normal 1900 cfs in the pigeon gorge today so if the dries were running then the waterville gauge would need to be much more then that.

AW shows the pigeon dries running all the time and they're not.

Middle Prong (Greenbriar) is running and rising at 5:30 p.m. from my visual. Gave a ride to the top to some boaters just getting off. It is rising slow. It will be there tomorrow a.m. for sure. Still kinda misty here. Lots of water saturation. Unless someone wants the Watauga, which will be running at a great near 300 level, I am going to the Middle Prong. Come boat with me and hang out Sat. night. Call me at 865-217-9952.
