I brought this up at the mtg last night. I'm currently planning to drop by the Cheoah on the way home from FL next wkend. I was wanting to do both days.
Next wkend's release is the only summer release for the Cheoah and the only remaining release for this year will be a single day release Nov 7. So if you want to do the Cheoah this year, this is pretty much it. If the Upper Ocoee and Lower Gauley is easy to you, then you may be ready for Cheoah at least down to the bridge above Bear Creek Falls. The entrance to BCF and down to the takeout to me is whole 'nother ball of wax! I'd say you are ready for that when you are thinking you are about ready for the Upper Gauley. There are plenty of places to get trashed above Bear Creek, and your roll must be rock solid as the river bed is frequently lined with trees in swift current and there are numerous sections of continuous Class III, III-IV whitewater. From the bridge above BCF down it turns into pretty much continuous Class IV with BCF being IV-V considering what is above and below it. Yee Haw! Hoping to see a lot of boating buddies there that weekend.
Wes
Well has anyone solidified plans for this weekend?
Lots of options. West 'by God' Viriginia?
I always seem to fret, when deciding to travel south or to the east.
I guess i just dont go boating enough these days.
Ok okay. I didn't realize that Sunday is Father's Day. I could be talked into a day trip to the Treeo-uh or could hang out here in hopes of something loco.
