BSF This weekend June 13-14 ?

Is BSF a possibility this weekend? Anyone going? Will?
What about water level. I am perplexed by the new site. It is running 10.5 feet, and listed as "low runnable", but the range given on the AW site is ridiculous (-999 to 100000 ft). I kinda think that, if an SR-71 Blackbird couldn't fly over it, it is probably too high.
Other than BSF, I am considering Hanley's trip, except that he seems to want to take us on things that are scary spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Chris, the BSF is running a very juicy 4600 cfs (aka: 10.4') which makes the Confluence to Leatherwood section a solid class 3-4 run. The range of "-999 to 100000 ft" is a default range and simply means the AW SK for the BSF has not set a more specific range since the publication of the new website.

The BSF will be at good water levels all weekend with or without rain.

Chris, there is a group of us planning on running something in the Cumberland/BSF/Obed area. We're waiting to see what happens with the gauges, but we'll be down there...somewhere smiling smiley.

Barry
Do you think that the canyon at this level would be good for a class III - but not IV - boater like me?
I just realized that more reasonable min and max numbers are on the TN page. I was looking at the KY page.

If there's something that won't scare the !@#$%^ out of me at this level, I'd like to go. How do I get in the loop? My cell: ate5nine three1seven 0655.

Chris - what Aedom said.
Obed is about to jump up too. give me a call tonight if yer interested in some Plateau goodies. ideally we can get on the Obed, you'd love it. we can scout and walk whatever, its class fun+.

BSF drops fast. and the Clear Fork, tributary of the BSF, will be running. never done it, it's another easy option. and theres always the Rockcastle, it should start dropping tonight.

maybe top it off with an evening Elkhorn run sunday night. I think we can squeeze in 6 rivers this weekend. sleep is for sissies.

For what it's worth Chris, the BSF at around 4K is a whole load of fun, as long as you don't swim. I ran laps on it at 4K in early March. The first run was sooooo much fun. The second lap, however, was not. I got caught on an eddy line below Jake's and missed a couple of rolls and bailed and it was the worst swim of my life. For this reason, boating in big water makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

[EDIT: I'm talking about the Canyon section.........]

Just sayin' is all.

Come to WV! Hanley won't put us on anything we can't handle. He's good like that. There are tons of options for varying skill levels in West Virginia. It'll be fun. You'll love it.
