Can anyone make tomorrow morning or early afternoon?

Awesome run today, but no carnage in the group I was in. Anyone that flipped was able to roll.

I'm flexible...I'd like to start any time from about 9:30 to 2:30 - you have any preference?

Don and I are going to meet at the E. A. @ 2pm. Be there or not.

I may be up for round 2 if there is the level for it.

Hey Brandon
Did you find a lone, fingerless kayaking glove in your vehicle? Or, did I hold to the tradition of dropping one of a pair while loading or unloading :-(

Awesome day, doing laps on the 'Khorn. All told, this is my record for distance in one day on the river. I even did a wee bit of surfing, and learned from Elizabeth how better to hold my line in ferrying (though that's gonna take much more practice).

Hey Don
I got side-surfed at Church wave, too. Third time's the charm - this time I didn't flip. I leaned hard downstream, like B6 told me in his tutorial on the Pigeon. Of course, my boat has no edge, which gives me a bit more time to remember to do that. You're paddling a very edgy boat - which I expect is much better for learning that sort of thing. Anyway, Don, it was great to paddle with you again.

didn't see it, but then again I didn't even take my wet gear out of the car when I got home. I'll take a look tonight...join us for another round if you can. Levels should hold.

Thanks Brandon. And thanks for the invitation to paddle again - this time in a thunderstorm. Should be interesting :-) But, unfortunately, I gotta work. Have fun!

Enjoyed it too, Chris. I hear and comprehend the wise words of B6 and others - seems to be a problem of execution - not leaning enough when first trying it, and I think I may have leaned too much yesterday - wish I could remember what happened, I was just over in a flash.

On that eddy that I flipped at, I think I just leaned too early and that particularly strong eddyline got me before I crossed it. Think I'm starting to get the leans right, just working on timing and extent.

Hey Don
I didn't see either flip. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention :-( I assume you used your rock-solid roll both times?
On the side surf, did you flip during the surf, or while getting out of it? The usual thing for side surfing is getting flipped to the upstream side, because that's where your edge will be caught. I'd be surprised if you leaned too far downstream. If you are working your paddle on the downstream side, with an aggressive lean downstream, you should be fine. (I'm sticking my neck out here, but expect that B6, Hanley, or someone else will correct me if I am wrong).
On eddy turns, I have a habit of leaning way early, provided that I am traveling with the downstream current. The issue of current catching your edge doesn't really apply if there is no current flow RELATIVE to your boat. Again, not knowing the precise circumstances, I can only guess. But again, my guess would be that you didn't have a sufficient lean into the eddy, or didn't have your paddle in position. I think it helps to reach right into that eddy on the inside of your turn and aggressively pull the boat into the eddy.
It also helps to get into the eddy as high as possible. I usually make the mistake of entering it too low, and make a lot of work for myself to paddle up into it (or just get washed down farther). That's often because I am tentative about going into an eddy when others are already in it, or because I don't anticipate the eddy early enough and have a lot of paddling to do just to get to it. But Robert pointed out last week that the fact that the eddy line is much narrower at the top of the eddy makes it much easier and safer to drive across it there than farther down.
