Ok, ya'll talked me into it....I'm in too smiling smiley Did I mention, I LOVE RUSSEL FORK SEASON! What a great September it has been (and it ain't even over...anybody goin to the Gauley this wkend?), and it's shaping up to be an even more spectacular October!

Dustin, you know I'm gonna miss our late nite, beer and shot laden sha-nan-a-gans at the Tank, the Bud, and who-knows-where (sometimes ya never know where you'll end up when rollin' with El Griffo)....but I can't think of a better way to go out than hangin with ya at the RF! I really hope we can get some music to the Rendevous/Club Party...props to you for putin in some effort on this! I'm still planning on putting in as much effort as the property owner will allow on campsite improvements at Carson Island. I know this is just my opinion, but I really think the RF is a natural fit for the BWA club party for many reasons, but I know camping has been a significant deterent for the Rendevous in the past few years (it has for me at least). I envision this year as a stepping stone to bringing back the Rendevous to it's former status (even though I know it will never top those of the late 90's where Brent put together some of the most unique paddling festivals ever recorded in the history of the WORLD!!!! cool smiley As far as paddling, though, there is something for everyone....even some good class IV if we're lucky enough for some low water in the gorge outside of the regular release schedule.

On a side note, just curious Brent, what do you classify RF gorge as again?!? I'll bet you'll be stirrin' the pot agin on this one...ha ha!

Oh, and by the way, if you happen to be reading this and are unfamiliar with the run, BRING YOUR PLAY BOAT (for the Ratliff Hole wave of course)....

Hope to see everybody there,

Clay

Clay: Sounds like Steve Ruth thinks it is ok to do some work on the land. Contact him for more details. We have been emailing back and forth and you are on the emails. This is a great event for the BWA and I am thrilled there is all this interest in reviving it's status.

I am not being baited into a classification. It is harder than the Gauley, but, very manageable for appropriate skills. If not familiar with the run, put your game face on and paddle with someone like Clay that knows the run. You will love it. That is what class it is.

I don't have a play boat, but the wave at Ratliff Hole is surfable by my Jefe too!.

I'm interested in running the 2-3 section. You think a group will go down it? I've never been on it myself.

Yes, a group will be going down that section. I thought I had posted some information about it, but, I can help you get hooked up on that trip or others.

I would like to catch a ride with someone or give a ride to someone to Camp @ Ratliff Hole. I've camped at the Breaks before, so I'm not certain where the Ratliff camping spot is located. I would like to boat the lower Sat and the Upper on Sunday. Reply if you would like to carpool. Jeff K

Hey, if anyone is going early (Thurs.), you might want to rope off a BWA area that includes a fire pit for the inevitable music scene that spontaneously bursts free. Right Jeffro?

Jeff,

I will be leaving Flexington Friday evening sometime. I have plenty of room if anyone else needs a ride. I am running the middle section, so you will have to figure out the logistics for yourself.

Brent, clay, sarah, anyone,

I haven't camped at RH since the park purchased it. Do they charge you to camp, dogs, no dogs???

thanks
scott

$10 per night and as always the pooch patrol is rolling. There are showers and a parking lot an pavillion where Steves tralier/cabin used to be.

The lady from the Georgetown Kite Festival sent me the info on the Japanese Taiko drum ensemble. They are called the Cincinatti Dayton Taiko Group and have a web page with contact info:

Like I said before, thought they were great at the kitefest...
