Wes,
Could you follow up on this? We've got between 4 and 8 bands lined up so far for the festival, so some good drumming would be great to get the juices flowing. which day, late or right at sundown... just let us know soon if possible so we can get thier info in the flyer which we're hopefully getting it out this week.

When you're driving into garden hole to set up shuttle, you'll see a creek on your left side that crosses under the road about half way in. There's a wide spot there and a trail sign on the right side. Leave your vehicle there.

When you get to Garden Hole, keep going. You'll get another quarter mile of good stiff III stuff, plus there's a great play hole just upstream of where you'll take out.

You'll want to take out on river right where the creek (Camp Branch) comes in. There's a trail right there that'll lead you back up to your vehicle (about 3/4 mile).

This adds some good stuff and allows you to avoid the cluster&(##! that sometimes happens in the Garden Hole parking areas. And you get some good exercise!

Of course, you can also take out on river left before you get to the tunnel and walk back up the tracks to Garden Hole

When the water is turned on Saturday morning, it will pretty much be the first time the RF has run over 300 since May. Unfortunately, that means there have been no flushes to get rid of stray wood through the summer. And there are some BUSY beavers in there.

Scouting instead of bombing is a good idea this weekend. There COULD be wood in some unfortunate spots.

If you haven't been here in a while, DO NOT go bombing through Fist. LOOK AT IT. Last year there was so much water, you could get through/over it. At 600-800, there's a big hole right where you USED to run in front of the crack. We'll barely hit 800 this weekend, so it's pretty mean. DON"T RELY ON THE FIRE ESCAPE! You really need 900cfs for that move to consistently be there. I recommend the hairy ferry...

It's gonna be a tougher to portage 1st drop. The railroad has been doing quite a bit of maintenance and they dumped more gravel over the hill there, covering the normal takeout spot. The far left sneak is there, just be real aggressive.

You forgot the post about the fire band, although he did say it's usually not enforced at the campground.

Anyone know what time they turn the water on?

OK, will be glad to help but ... I've never even attended a RFR so everything they ask I may have to find out from one of you guys. There will be msg relay delay, but I can fire off an Email to even see if it's feasible as soon as I know a couple of small details...

So you are saying we could use them around sundown or late Fri or Sat? How late? I haven't seen anything on the list re: compensation. Is there a budget allowance for each group or are these all volunteer musicians? Inquiring minds may want to know. How big of a crowd are we expecting ... they may want to know that. Sorry... just don't know any of this stuff.

as long as the river's running below 1000, the far left sneak is good as long as one is aggressive with it. when i say far left, i mean as far left as you can possibly be, nearly boofing off the left wall. strong boof stroke, nose up, keep paddling through the bottom.

in all honesty, the safest line is the mainline at first drop. but its kinda scarry and there is a terminal hole about a foot to your right, but you're far less likely to get stopped in the middle (if u hit it) than on the left sneak.

Tim,

I hope this does not mean you decided to swim in it instead of rolling. :-)
