BSF and/or Rockcastle 10/16

Zack and I are heading south Friday for some boating. BSF is just under 8K and dropping. Rockcastle would be good as well. Laps on the canyon sounds fun, but would consider other options. Anyone else boating tomorrow?

I wish I could, I have to work Sat., or I would be up for daddy's creek. Looks like a day trip for us. Have fun this weekend out there.

Trip report: Zack and I ended up paddling Pittman creek in Somerset, KY with James Thaxton yesterday. A few weeks ago, Dot, Adam, and Bart and I went down the creek at the highest level I've paddled it. At very high levels, the pittman is a blast, with huge wavetrains and waveholes. For those of you not familiar with Pittman, you should really check it out sometime. It reminds me of the elkhorn, but with less flatwater. The shuttle is shorter as well. Play on the creek is better at normal flows. Overall, its a very playful class II stream, but at higher flows its class III.

After the Pittman, we headed over to the Deathcastle for a sweet run @ 1700 cfs. We arrived it 6:30 and were off just as it was getting dark. From the top of the hike in, you can hike down the hill and paddle the narrows section total in 45 mins. if your in a hurry. The water was great. The rockcastle is GREAT at 1700. Lots of whirlpools, and just funky water in general. I think it's a bit harder than the Lower G at this level, but short, sweet, and a fantastic run only an hour and a half from LexVegas. Looking forward to paddling it higher more.
