Just to give you an idea of what the Elkhorn is like - I've only been on the lower Pigeon once, but in my opinion, its seemed pretty tame when I did it after 5 or 6 times on the upper Elkhorn at various levels - maybe its similar with the Elkhorn at 500.

Getting a roll seems pretty intimidating the first couple of sessions, but I'm glad the club pushes it so hard. Really makes a difference to the enjoyment and ability to try new things without having to swim so much - even though the first time you flip on the river, its such a shock, even if you can roll in the pool, its hard to keep your wits about you and do a roll.

Me and a few other newer paddlers are hitting the Khorn this weekend. Suppossed to be sunny and highs of 66 both days so I'm no longer looking at the levels and am just going to go paddle it. Let me know if either Sat. or Sun. work for you and we'll set a time/place to meet.

Now I feel badly about being a pessimist (killjoy, curmudgeon, grouch, grinch, or whatever). It looks very likely that the Elkhorn will be fun-runable on Saturday. I'll stick by my prediction that it will be below 500 cfs, but it will be far from drying out.

Ben, I'll call you tomorrow evening and set everything up with you. Most likely I'll be awakening Saturday morning over in the Master Station side of town so if you live close to there I'll be glad to stop by and pick you up.

Jason, I'll call you and give you the info. like you asked even though you stood me up on the halloween voyage! I was gravely (nice pun huh!) disappointed when you didn't show and your absence caused me to spend my entire holiday weekend wondering/worrying if the reason you didn't show was simply because you no longer find me attractive or you think I've let myself go too much or if you just feel I've gained too much weight to be pretty. If its the latter please know that its common knowledge that neoprene pants make your butt appear much bigger than it really is, I swear!

The ol' went to the wrong creek excuse huh. At least that is better than the tried and true "its me not you" excuse I hear so often!! Anyway, that sucks you can't go on Saturday but call me on Saturday night if you decide to make a run on Sunday, I may be able to go with.
