Fist is one of the RF's most notorious and dangerous rapids. Here is a description by veteran paddler and long time BWA supporter and AW Director, Chuck Estes with some photos that he posted on BT.

Photos of Fist Rapid RF Last Saturday_ New

First time I had been to RF in a couple of years and as advertized the wave holes in Fist had changed. Linked photo attached of Fist Rapid @ ~810 cfs on Saturday, 9/6/07. Second photo of boaters doing the far left sneak with an eventual ferry in front of the undercut boulder. Running the main line, the wave holes do feed into the undercut if you have a problem. I had a good line by working to the left side by the rocks just above the last pitch and driving through the wave holes with some right angle to the flow. I would say ~ 30-40% of boaters were doing the Fire Escape (far right diagonal ledge). Most had no problems in getting over the ledge. At this flow it was a bit sketchy in that the water pulsed a good bit leaving the ledge dry at times. The key was to drive hard onto the ledge. On Sunday saw one young lady get rejected and she slipped down into the fan rock with a bad hit. The far left sneak (see second photo with boaters bumping down the far left) was fairly popular with a must-focus ferry move at the end.
