Ledgeman,
I may be able to make it after all. Turns out the wedding Ashley and I are attending does not start until 7pm. I might not be able to go all the way to Larimore's but most of the carnage should be over by then anyway. Unless some local creekin opens up I will be there.

This sounds like a ton of fun. Unfortunately, I have to work a wedding during the day, but I'd love to party it up with people. I'll keep in touch throughout the day with Mr. Anal On Time At the Meet Up (just kidding! sort of smiling smiley )and see you all in the evening. Thanks for the invite!

Heather,

That sounds good. I will jump on with you. I have permission to park one vehicle at a different location. (very close to the put in) We can put in there and save some parking space at the bridge.

Bubba,

That could be Travis!?! Does he always dress like that? I can never figure out who that guy is. That is some dude who shows up every year and is true sight to see! He seems to show up in all of my pictures, dang it! He appears on all the invitations.

You know Allen if some local creekin opens up around here the elkhorn might be screaming, thus forgoing the entire float. It’s a weird feeling to hope the rains slow down . . . commence stone throwing eye popping smiley ! I’m ducking!!!

Maybe we could float from the AW take out down stream if it’s high? Anybody done the elkhorn at 2000-3000 cfs from the gorge take out down stream?

I've paddled from the Forks to Larimore's at those levels. Actually, when we did it at 3600cfs last Saturday the largest wave of the day was a mile or two past the take-out. It could easily be missed, but would be fun if you wanted to hop in it.

Here's hoping for the perfect water level for you Ledgeman!

It appears there are no worries about the water level for this years float. I project the Elkhorn to be about 6” which is an awesome level for the canoe float AND for kayaking.

If you are looking for an easy going fun float this weekend come on out. Who needs the Watauga, Doe or Tellico to have a kick a$$ time. I mean NATE DOG smoking smileyis going to be there. Nuff said.

We hopefully will be to the put in by 1pm. If were late, sorry in advance. Just bring a cold beverage and we’ll be theredrinking smiley.

Peace,
Dave

Wow. Finally . . . I am rested up and the fog has lifted. The float down the river was a huge success. We had around 7 inches of water. We put on at my latest time possible that I wanted of 2pm. We had a large group of about 10 canoes, 1 solo canoe, 1 two person kayak, 4 single man sit on tops, 2 kayaks w/ no skirts and 2 real kayakers. We made it off the water with no lost boats.

I believe there were about 3 flips total. We had One flip at the bottom of the dam dam rapid, a flip at the log cabin wave and we had a flip and canoe pin at one the more shoaley rapids. The two that pinned the only aluminum canoe we had out that are veteran canoers so they came out with just bruised egos.

I want to personally thank Barry and Cynthia Grimes for being our ONLY Safety boaters. They hung out at each rapid making sure all made it down safely. They did a great job at each rapid. THANKS 6’s.

We didn’t need those other kayakers out there who lost their patience anyway. We didn’t need the other deserter boaters who ended up as shuttle bunnies smiling bouncing smiley.

We had fun right here in central KY.

Good times!!! smileys with beer

Good Rainy Morning to the BWA! Mike Larimore and I are extending out an invitation to the BWA to attend the annual Ledgeman / Larimore canoe trip on the mighty Elkhorn! Canoe’s preferred and Kayaks are welcome.spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

This is a great way to get you newbies out there who just took the clinic in an informal setting.

When: May 22 at Noon (that’s boater time ; -)

Where: Elkhorn Creek at the Forks & Camping a Larimore’s Farm

See PDF attachment: It has more information on the float

The BEST thing to do is come to the Larimore’s first to get in on the shuttle if you plan to float down to his property. I plan to camp friday night so come on out and camp.

If you are a novice or you have little ones, no problem. You can put on at Knights bridge and float down to Larimore, about 2 miles down on river left. The flotilla will pass by Knights bridge later in the day and you can hop on with us.

If you need directions please post here, call (859) nine four eight -2363 or email me at dclmdr@yahoo.com .

Camping is primitive. There is a pit toilet suitable for those who can sit on a 55 gallon drum w/ proper seating : -) Bring some TP.thumbs down
