Register Now for Lexington Bike Summit - September 21

Join Mayor Newberry and the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government at
the Lexington Bike Summit. We'll bring together citizens, government,
businesses and community leaders to talk about moving forward together to
become the most bike-friendly city in Kentucky and a world class city for
bicycling. We all have a role! Come learn how other cities have made it
happen and find out how you can contribute. We hope that you and other
participants in the Summit will walk away a clear sense of direction,
responsibility and support for creating a bike-friendly Lexington.

The purpose of the Bike Summit is to move forward with implementing
Lexington's Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan
[www.lfucg.com] (unanimously adopted
on August 22) and to work to achieve a Bicycle Friendly Community Award
[www.bikeleague.org] from
the League of American Bicyclists. Please visit www.bikelexington.com
[www.bikelexington.com] learn more about the bike plan and
bike-friendly award program.

The LFUCG has applied for a Bike-Friendly Community Award and has
invited Andy Clarke, Executive Director of the League of American
Bicyclists, to the Summit to tell us whether Lexington has achieved a
bronze status and how our city measures up to other bike-friendly
communities. We have also invited Gil Penalosa, former Commissioner of
Parks and Recreation in Bogotá, Columbia. Mr.. Penalosa will challenge
us to dream big and show how bicycling and walking have changed the face
of Bogotá and many other national and international communities.

Participation in the Bike Summit is FREE but you must REGISTER. Space is
limited so please register ASAP. Registration will close on September 18.

Visit www.bikelexington.com [www.bikelexington.com] to register
