Right now, we are a few people short of the magic number 15 that is required for the shaving of JBob. If the mental image of Jbob without a beard is keeping you from volunteering, I have heard that the proper amount of Woodford Reserve can lessen the visual effect.

Russ Miller, the heart and sole of this cleanup, could use our help with this. I would really like to see a big group of BWAers show up for this event. I am hoping we can use this event to recapture the feeling of camaraderie we had at this year's clinic.

I volunteer to supply the BWA bourbon for this event. However, if the duration of the clinic bottle is any indication of the speed with which this group can down a fifth, we may need backup.

Allen,

I've tried to squirm out of my obligations for this weekend, I really have given it my best. Truthfully, I'd much rather be picking up trash on the Red than crawling under my house installing plumbing fixtures. However, my involvement with the clinic means I'm backed up on those other chores and there is absolutely no way I can join the fray if I intend to stay married.

I'm truly sorry that I cannot make it. JBob's mane may be entirely safe this year.

Hanley,
We all want you to stay married, so crawl under that house. As for JBob's mane........ stay tuned for the rest of the story.

I keep saying that eight people are more than sufficient to hold him down and shear him. winking smiley Be sure to take the electric clippers though. If he's squirming a straight razor could get messy.

I guess I could always change my first name to "Sweeney".

The Red River was a great success. A 5x8 trailer was filled with trash bags and a ducky full of tires was collected. We were able to remove the large tire that had been the topic of much conversation. JBob was happy as a clam to finally get that tire onto the bank after wrestling it down the river.

I want to thank the following BWA members who volunteered their time to help with the cleanup:
Rodney Agee
Parker Art
Jason "JBob" Bailey
Kris C. (I know how she prefers to keep her name withheld)
Beth Clemons
Brandon Jett
Sarah Mello
John Mello
Bethany Overfield
Dale Perry

A special thanks goes to Russ Miller, who works tirelessly on this project. Those of you who have participated in this event know the effort this man puts into this cleanup. He spends days doing prep work, bagging trash and herding up tires, etc. A truly special human being!

And thank you Allen for taking charge of organizing the cleanup. 'Twas a great day in a beautiful place, and I'm sure the Red River is very appreciative.

Another shout out for Russ Miller. A truly special man indeed.

Yes! Thanks Allen! You did a great job coordinating everything. I know that Russ was really appreciative of the BWA turnout. Just seeing and spending time at Russ and Renee's homestead deep in the heart of the RRG was worth the trip. And, of course, seeing all that junk removed from the river resulted in instant warm fuzzies.

Looking forward to Phase II of the Elkhorn cleanup. May 31st.
