Cleanup on Muddy Creek

The Friends of Muddy Creek, a conservation group focused on one of our favorite Madco whitewater streams was involved in getting the Madison County Road Department to pull a couple of wrecked cars from Muddy near the lower takeout at Doylesville.

The FOMC has also been involved in getting volunteers to do trash cleanups around the several bridges that cross Muddy and are asking for volunteers to "adopt" a bridge to clean up. Any chance the BWA would be interested in adopting the bridge on Oakley Wells and/or the bridge at Cane Springs?

I'd be glad to help organize this effort if enough folks are interested. Post here or let me know if you'd like to be involved. I'm thinking the best time to do this would be in the late winter / early spring

Barry,
I was on the phone this morning with a rep from Kentucky River Authority discussing the BWA grant application. I think that this may be something that I can work into the grant application. My initial thought on the application was simply to replace some worn out boats for Russ Miller. However, since grant money has already been applied to that in the past, the thought was to make the grant application more broad in scale to give it a better chance of being approved.

Give me a call when you get a chance as I would like to work this idea into the grant.

Count me in as a volunteer.

Allen

Thanks Bethany! BTW, have you even had a chance to get on the mighty Muddy yet? It's got to be one of the best local play streams in KY:-)

Thanks Allen and I'll give you a call asap.

No! Since I just started paddling in March, I really haven't had the opportunity to do anything local (outside of the Elkhorn). I am itching to get on the Muddy, Boone Creek, and Calloway Creek. If it ever rains again.................

Insert rain dance here.

I like cleanups and I haven't been on the Muddy either. I'm in for whatever, whenever.

Thanks Fred. I'm blown away that you haven't paddled the Muddy yet. Imagine all the best play spots on the Elkhorn then multiply that X50:-)
