Re: Cleanup on Muddy Creek: Saturday Dec. 6, 2008 10am

Great weather is predicted for the Muddy Creek bridge cleanup scheduled for this Saturday. NOAA is predicting overcast conditions, chance of snow and temps in the upper 30s so picking up trash will be a great way to get some outside time and to stay warm!

We will not be getting into the creek on this cleanup but instead will be concentrating on the roadway and land surrounding the Cain Springs and Oakley Wells bridges.

Just a reminder that we will be meeting at my house @ 10 am and then car pooling to the Cain Springs bridge first and then on to the Oakley Wells bridge. I'm guessing it will only take us 3-4 hrs for the actual cleanup then everyone is invited back to the house for refreshments and a post cleanup party.

Here's the link again with directions to my house: [tinyurl.com]

Thanks to all who have volunteered! May the River Gods smile upon you all.

Does anybody want to carpool from Lexington to the Grime's to meet up at 10am?

I will head back after the clean up to be with my little family and not attending the after party at the Grimes (even though I would love to hang out).

Thanks for putting this together Barry.

Hopefully I will have a tag along or two.

Heya....I just noticed this.....hmmmm. I'll try and make it myself. Maybe carpool with the Ledgmeister or sumpn.....or someone else. I could use some warm whitewater action too.

I've already given Jason a heads up but for any others who might be planing on meeting up with the other cleanup volunteers at the bridge instead of car pooling from my house please go to the Oakley Wells bridge. We hope to get there from my house by around 10:45am'ish.

The MadoCo SWC dump truck that was obtained by Tom Edwards of FOMC is now parked at 3318 Weddles Mill which is very near the Doylesville bridge takeout on Muddy. The landowner, Mr Short, relates that he has seen paddlers exiting the creek across from his house and was glad to hear of the cleanup and to let the dump truck be parked on his property. Thank you Tom and Mr. Short.

We'll now be picking up trash on the road and area around all three of the access bridges we use on Muddy - Oakley Wells, Cane Sprigs and Doylesville. With the amount of trash and wealth of volunteers it shouldn't take too long to clean these bridges up.

After the cleanup everyone is invited back to the house to party! C6 is preparing soups and sandwiches and there will be beer, soft drinks, hot tubing and Muddy Creek videos vintage 2001-02 (they were very good years!)

Thanks and CU tomorrow!

I am truly humbled. You folks are the best. Braving the snow and icy weather you made it look so easy. May the River Gods smile upon us all. My heart soars like 30 Sand Hill cranes...
