Hi Bethany,
First of all, prior to purchase I highly recommend you visit consumerreports.org for a tire recommendation. Price can sometimes have very little to do with performance I've found! I also review ratings at tirerack.com ... usually they are pretty close to each other but I would give the edge to consumer reports ... they are usually pretty thorough. If you don't have a membership their, I'll be glad to use mine, look up the rec: and forward to you. I presume you are looking for all seasons with a good mix of performance in dry / wet / snow conditions. Then you have to pick a tire, then figure out who sells them locally. I've bought tires locally from Sams (great prices usually, free lifetime rotate / balance but need a membership, Sears (good prices if on sale, great service), S&S Tire (my most recent purchase - liked their initial service .. have yet to do my follow up rotate / balance). I also highly recommend that you get an alignment check when you buy the tires if you want to avoid prematurely wearing them ... S&S / Sears both offer this, but Sams doesn't.
Hope I've helped ... and let me know if you want me to do the consumer reports look up thing.
Wes
tirerack.com has amazing charts showing the best tires for each category. I cross-check that with consumer reports. Ditto on ashley's. they are an approved installer for tires bought on tirerack.com
my pops subscribes to consumer reports, so i'll look there. and i'll check out tirerack.com. i've never heard of that site.
i got a broken axle fixed and 2 new tires two months ago. and the shisters i have been dealing with say that i currently have 2 bent rims which caused the two new tires to wear in an odd way. so.............now i need 4 tires and 2 new wheels. i want to know who's stealing my car at night and off-roading with it.......
possible neighborhood candidates:
mel, hanley, jeff K, or mackenzie..................
I agree with Wes about Sears tire service. They have great deals and are very professional. You can also pay a little extra for tire insurance in case the tires wear out/are damaged prematurely. I bought tires from them before (different car). They also stay open later which is very convenient.
