If I could summarize....I've been trying to host a film premiere for awhile locally. I've been lax in following through for one, but also I haven't gotten good response from LVM. If you recall, Clay asked about an LVM on the forum a month ago and I emailed Will offline and never heard back from him. I asked John Grace to send a film through Will to the clinic and then I heard that the WW Cats had two LVMs to premiere. Liz said she inquired to them about a premiere too.
I have always had two locations in mind...Pazzo's (beer garden screen on the wall and room with garage door) and Riptides. I have contacted Pazzo's, haven't Riptides. I am also the one that has the "Rollapalooza at Riptides" idea and pitched it to Will the other night once I saw that they had the inflata screen. Else, the tv situation made Riptides my secondary choice for films due to having to bring the projector and screen.
So I'm all for heading up film premieres from the BWA side, as my role with the NPFF is Roadshow Coordinator and I have the whole film library. I feel like a film premiere is something that the BWA and the NPFF should do....as we are one of the pioneers of paddling porn distribution in the first place.
I would like to work WITH the WW Cats. I feel like we can help them market, setup, and keep sustainable a semi-regular event. There membership will obviously have high turnover rates compared to the BWA and they'll be absent during the summer potentially.
I also realize that last night's event was a success...in that we all got to talk, eat, drink, and be merry. To me, in that setting, films would've been a distraction.
So in my mind its possible that we keep these events separate. However, if some benefit can be provided to the WW Cats in terms of a % of the sales then let's do it. In some cases, I've also thought it possible that occassionally we'd like to collect a small fee at the door to go to a good cause....ie conservation groups or maybe a winter BWA roll session fund.
This is long, so I'll stop. Bottomline....I think we should work with the WW Cats so we don't saturate folks calendars with similar events, but both groups maximize benefit and attendance and comraderie between the groups. I am SUPER excited that the WW Cats are more active within the BWA events now.
Next film premiere...Call of the River, Kent Ford. This will be one that we'll want to sit and watch so the venue and A/V is important. Its not a plop and drop carnage film that makes for a good background.
