DAMN that DAMN DAM!!

Can we finally get a move on something to get this DAMN thing removed??!!??

Maybe this will be the just the catalyst we need to get things going in the right direction.....too bad at the expense of someone else but at least it wasn't their life.

How many people have to die??

Here's what the report reads btw. Thanx for the info Jason

4-19-09 I went down the whitewater part of Elkhorn creek to find 3 helmets and 2 PFD's being re-surfed in the dam , went further down the river to find 3 abandoned kayaks along the shore line. Stooped in at canoe KY to report this and they were aware of a situation at the dam the previous day in which a 16 year old girl was sucked back up to the dam in her kayak and flipped and was re-surfed herself for several minutes until she flushed out and was washed up on the rock at the start of the rapid and eventualy had to be rescued by the profesionals and taken to the hospital for hyopothermmia. The moral of the story is please be carefull at the dam it is a dangerous situation at any level. fortunatly this girl came out alright.

Wavey,

I agree, the removal of the dam is long over due. Maybe there can start to be more of a push to get this taken care of.

I'm pretty sick of this damn dam too. Barry told me a while back about some progress that was being made a few years ago and some motivation from the distillery for removal that died ... but can't remember why. A near drowning may help spark the locals to support it's removal as well... maybe we should strike while the iron is hot ... so to speak.

The way I see it .... either we can:
1) Convince the distillery to dismantle on our own. As I recall, Barry said that we can probably even get funding to finance the operation ... can't remember the source.
2) See if AW can help with a legal battle.
3) Find some dude in the KY Militia that is well stocked and looking for an excuse to blow something up ... we can tell him the goberment built it ... even Union Soldiers built it ... yeah... that's the ticket! winking smiley

Unless it's properly sucked out and disposed of (like they'll do for Dillsborough), get ready for silt hell downstream for a while!

I have seen several things on that creek that made me wonder what the hell was running through those people's mind. (Dustin you know one of them) People just need to use their dam heads!
