Okay, Cheryl Glassford of Channel 36 just finished doing their interview with me. They are headed over to Canoe Kentucky now to get some supplementary footage and interviews. I believe they are trying to do a little more in-depth story than the previous two stations.

Cheryl said the story will air tonight at 6:00 and again at 10:00 and 11:00 (her words not mine, not sure what 10:00 and 11:00 means, perhaps she misspoke). In any case, it will be on tonight.

Good job Hanley. You were very official:-) The story led their newscast. The takeout on the Elkhorn looked packed in the video the CH36 crew shot. Guess they skipped going to CanoeKY? I thought this was the best one.

If you missed it check it out at 11pm when it airs again. Maybe they'll edit in that extra video too.

Also, don't forget to click the link and leave a comment on the CH27 page. Thanks to everyone who has already done this. It will be a great PR resource to point people to as we go forward and lots of comments calling for a removal of the dam will explain the issue and help press our position.

Here's the link to the Channel 36 story. They did a much better job than either of the other two stations. Much more accurate and less sensational. The experience of the previous two interviews helped out too, as I was able to convey the appropriate points better and more succinctly, less off the cuff.

Hanley, just wondering if a little basketball footage in the drowning machine hydraulic would help visually explain the retentive nature of the beast? I'm sure after UK had to settle for NIT several die hard fans kicked their Gillespie signed basketballs into the river to be discovered by gangs of kayak polo players. I remember a few years ago there was a basketball stuck in the hydraulic for a few weeks. It would go under and shoot out of the water every few seconds.

There was a basketball recirculating there on Saturday.

good work guy's! this would be a huge accomplishment and most likely save someone's life in the future! I remember seeing huge tires reciriculating in there for days. Once we we're paddling the elkhorn 3 or 4 days straight around 3 or 4 feet on the guage and I was using the same tire each day to line up my line thru the dam. I'd take a boof stroke about 1/2 foot to the left of the tire each day-it was there for like a week in the same spot. scary stuff. it wasn't the only tire there either. after running the boof thru the dam you would see 2 or 3 other tires pop up in the boils below as you we're negociating them. that thing doesn't let anything go. nice interview Hanley-well put!

best quote of the entire thread.

That basketball was in the dam on Friday too. I unfortunately took too-blurry to even watch video of it. Maybe it's still there?

It could be one of the last of it's breed because there's positive news on bringing down the dam. The BWA dambusters have a meeting with the plant manager at Jim Beam next week:-)
