Kentucky River Touring Day Trips

Now that the local whitewater is calming down, I'm ready to get my touring kayak dusted off for some day trips. I try to get out once a week for at least an 8 mile out and back run on the Kentucky River, but would like to try some longer, point-to-point trips (say, Camp Nelson over to High Bridge 14-15 miles).

My close-to-home trips are usually:
1). John Nickell boat ramp (Jessamine Co. at the end of KY 39 - across from Paint Lick Creek) to Sugar Creek, occasionally going up Sugar Creek for about a mile.
2). Hunter's Ferry Rd (Jessamine Co) to Nicholasville Water Intake, with forray into Silver Creek

Little further away and pay to put-in, but more scenic trips (for the Kentucky, anyway)
1). High Bridge up the Dix River to near the dam
2). Camp Nelson over to Candlestick Rock

Not extremely scenic, but for variety's sake...
1). Valley View Ferry upstream for 4-5 miles
2). Camp Nelson to Lock & Dam 8
3). John Nickell Boat ramp up to Hunter's Ferry

Any interest out there? My preference is to go during the week in the AM since I'm a non-working type (less crowded on weekdays - and cooler in the AM), but I am flexible. Willing to try other starting locations and other rivers. Hopefully, the weather will start cooperating next week.

Don,
This sounds cool. If I could borrow a touring kayak, I would join you sometime. My flat-water paddles out on the Cumberland rule out trying this with a whitewater boat.

Don,

I'm in the same boat or lack there of as Allen. I would love to join you if I had a touring/sea kayak. If someone has one that I could borrow I'd come out for a trip.

Flat water is better than no water. Alas, I have no touring kayak either..........
If I could borrow one, I'd be in. Actually I'm kind of a glutton for punishment, so I could start off with my ww boat and see how that goes....

I can occasionally make Kentucky River outings official field work as long as I stop, look at the limestone, and report back.

I have a rec' boat that is great on flat water. Anytime I'm not using it, I won't mind lending it out. Its an old town and about 12 feet with plenty of cooler space!
