"Peterson began kayaking at about 11:30 a.m. near Highway 127 North and was supposed to meet his wife, Barbara, at about 3 p.m. at Potter's Ford Road in the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area, said Myers."

That's why you always paddle with one or two other paddlers

14 miles in 3 1/2 Hours? I would actually be surprised if the Goulds Bend (127 ot Adams Bridge)
section actually had enough water to be runnable, although it has been very wet. I haven't ever done this section, but there is a set of tight rapids called the SSS's. Wonder if that is what got him.

The Obed and Daddy's Creek would be just about the worst place I can think of to screw up and be by yourself. It's a long way from anywhere in a lot of that canyon.

Yep, never paddle alone unless you have no one to go with.

I think most of us that have paddled for any length of time have paddled alone, but the smart ones are picky about which streams that tackle alonewinking smiley. I wouldn't have any problem jumping on Elkhorn, the Pigeon, Ocoee or even the Tellico or Little alone. All of these are reasonably accessible, generally have someone else around and are well within my skill range. However, I would hesitate to run OBJ to Nemo by myself even though I'm extremely familiar with the run just because the chance of someone else coming along the river is small and access for search and rescue groups is pretty bad if something did screw up.

Just my opinion.
