Butt Rub...not opposed to going there, but there is zip for a vegetarian to eat except a side order of cole slaw and maybe the vegetable of the day, although I bet some lard of some sort is involved. They didn't advertise their beer selection either....not a good sign.

Yo good idea Ledgeman! Put my vote down for a paddling, cookout if you want , BWA meeting at the Etakeout in Sept.

I'm not a big fan of where the meetings are held now, and agree we desperately need a new spot yet the Winchester Rd location has been much easier for Richmond/Winchester area folks to get to. IMHO, Southland Drive is not really easy to get to for anyone from out of town.

Wes mentioned a Chinese buffet, and though I don't know the name of the place, there is a spot in Crossroads that has a buffet. There is also a ton of table space there. I've only been there once, but I seem to remember that it was divided up into at least 2 different seating areas too. I'm sure someone else is more familiar with it than I am - just wanted to offer the suggestion.

There are still some potential problems with Butt Rubb, and I don't want to start jumping the meeting place around. We've been there before, although some of you won't remember it.

Basically, every time we move a meeting place, we lose a couple of people. I don't want to make a move until we've decided pretty firmly on a permanent new location.

That being said, the Steering Committee will meet at Butt Rubb this next month to check it out. Meanwhile, keep those suggestions coming.

I mentioned Ramsey's on Harrodsburg road one time. They have a separate room that I think would have the seating requirements and a tv. I know it's a little out of the way for some, but as most of you know....the food is pretty darn good...and plenty for the vegetarian. Just a thought.

Everyone has an opinion, and I'll throw mine out there....I personally want food, and think that without food, some people will not come. Attendance is already way down...let's not make it go down even more. I know others may disagree, but I think having a meeting place in an area where there's a bar to go to afterwards in close proximity (ie....Marikka's after Sontino's) was favorable smileys with beer You know....helps with comraderie and all. For that reason alone....I like the idea of ButtRub.

Has the club membership truly demonstrated a desire to move our meeting?

What are the actual impediments to our current location?
There is decent food and alcohol, parking, mostly adequate seating and a convenient and established location. Sontino's was never large enough. Returning to a place which was inadequate 3 years ago suggests that any speculation about growth for this club cannot be taken seriously .

Popular restaurants in our price range are generally noisy.
Despite an annoying propensity for piping their banal, indigenous music into our space, this club has conducted extensive business sessions, clinic preparations, an election and some pedantic programs with only minor interruptions.
I believe we can negotiate a more appropriate ambience with a simple discussion with their management. In addition, I can easily bring a portable PA with microphone for those individuals who are hard of hearing or are naturally soft-spoken.

Mi Mexico is not going anywhere; as a result, our meeting continuity will not be compromised 3, 6, or 9 months down the road.

If the club desires a new location by vote, let's be serious and find a location
that will facilitate a vibrant club with expectations for a fairly healthy and sophisticated menu.

In conclusion, I will remind readers that in 1987, this club met at RED LOBSTER

Let's have a club vote during our AW acres session in September. There will be more in attendence from the Franklin County faction. I think that a convenient location is very important if we want our meetings to be attractive to those not residing in the fast-food consumption capitol of the world. Keith

Right on, Keith!
Having been a bit frustrated at a meeting or two at Mi Mexico (particularly, during the program), I was swept up with the idea of changing venue. Thanks for the reality check. Yes, we need to look at it that way - are we Really in need of the change and, if we do change, is the new location actually better?

I think your observations are more than valid Keith. However, we're not moving yet, just checking places out by moving the steering committee meeting around. We're not going to move anywhere casually. If, and or when we find a place that is worthy of a move, we'll vote on it before changing locations.

As I said before, the one thing I don't want to do is go jumping our general meeting place around looking for the perfect situation.

Mi Mexico has it's advantages, and permanence is one of them, however I would point out that they never seem thrilled about having us there, and that's understandable. Have you ever noticed that they are usually pretty busy when we show up? The upshot is that our business (which takes up significant table space for a lot longer than the amount of time we spend eating) isn't necessarily a huge boon for them. It works for now, and I don't want to just cast it aside, but I do want to keep looking around.

I had previously checked out Ramsey's on Hburg road and what the arrangements were for using their "back room"....the catch is that they only allow a limited menu and a minimum number of people so the dollars didn't work out...too expensive
