Check with Nathan at Canoe Ky...for several years he has been involved with an exploratory group in Frankfort trying to work with Jim Beam and create a ww park at the dam....maybe some of the legwork is already done for you.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody, I really appreciate it. I will be drafting a rough draft proposal for the Boonesboro WW park project since I believe that is the most feasible at this time, and will all in all be a kick ass project to work on. I read it a year or so ago. I remember it having a lot of information about the history, engineering, politics - sucesses (few) and failures (many) - of the locks and dams on the Kentucky. From what I remember, it read like a scholarly paper - at times a little tedious, but has an extensive bibliography if there were something in it you needed more detail on. Really interesting old pictures I just checked it out of the Jessamine Co Library to refresh my memory.
