Hey, I look quite fetching in those. They accentuate my manly calves.

All I get is goodwill and the pleasure of having helped out some friends. You know what they say, the main ingredient that makes a good salesperson is belief in the product. Well, I have ultimate faith that what I'm selling here is pure gold at pewter prices. Plus, with the rafting business shrinking, these opportunities just aren't as abundant as they used to be, so I feel the need to impress a sense of urgency on my BWA buddies to take advantage of this opportunity while they can.

This was so much fun. If I didn't have such a good time, I would encourage everyone to do it but there are only so many trips to video and I want to do it again and again.

I got to stay at the absolutely nicest campground I have ever seen. They had inflatable pool toys more valuable than my house, live music, and super cool people to hang with. The owners even took the time to meet me and explained that I could get a shuttle from now on...in fact that is why they started the company...for a ride! In my paperwork it looked like there were a slew of other neat benefits like free rafting, and way reduced rates on their other activities (there are a lot of them--even zip lines and horseback riding).

And I had free hot hamburgers (or whatever) on the side of the Gauley that was prepared and cleaned up for me. I was also admired by the guest for my bravery and ability to fit in kayak.

They set me up with a camera, umbrella, really strange small plastic toys and some really patient guides so I wouldn't get left behind. Keeping ahead of your trip is the sister challenge of being able to get in and out of your boat quickly.

Of course the other videoboaters were as cool as you would think and I got to smell them all as I got a crash course in the editing room. I actually ended up with a sellable product by 7pm Saturday with their help.

Just tell 'em you know Hanley and you are in. He is a real legend on the Gauley.

In short, I had and awesome time, and got paid for my ability boat and to not get water in my drybox. Perfect.
