Some of you already know what I'm talking about. ACE Whitewater recently had a show on the Travel Channel cover them where the Travel Channel declared ACE to be the most diverse outfitter in the world. Naturally, with Gauley Season coming on, bookings suddenly shot through the roof. Hence they are short on videographers for the weekend.

If you can competently paddle the Upper Gauley solo, like carnage (when you're not on the receiving end of it), like beer, like free shuttles, like having lunch grilled and waiting for you at sweets falls, like having people buy you drinks back at the outpost while they're watching your video, like getting paid for all these things, and like getting free shuttle service on Sunday, then you need to contact me and I'll put you in touch with ACE's video manager. You can email me, call me, or talk to me at the meeting tonight, but please, if you're thinking about doing this, don't hesitate. Jump right in! You'll be glad you did.

Clarification: ACE needs up to four videographers on the Upper on Saturday, and possibly one on the Lower.

I know I sound like a infomercial guy when I talk about whitewater video, but I'm telling you guys, it's all that and more.

(Appalachian Wildwater used to give 35% across the board and 50% for anything with the company logo on it. Don't know what ACE's policy is, but I do know they have a lot of paddling gear.)

No long term commitment. They're not asking you to commit to a certain number of days, they just want to use you one day and have the option to call you on other days to see if they can work you. It's really the best of all possible worlds. If you're considering it, do it. You won't be sorry.

Unrelated. The job is shooting rafting trip videos. You paddle along with a rafting trip and shoot a video of the trip. Generally you shoot at the big five major rapids on the Upper G (Insignificant, Pillow, Lost Paddle, Iron Ring, and Sweets Falls) and maybe some filler. Later, back at the outpost, the guests gather in the bar to watch the video of their trip, while they whoop it up. You get paid a base amount plus commission. It's a pretty sweet gig.

That's great Elizabeth! I'm glad that we were able to get you hooked up. Now If I could only convince some of these other guys to give it a try. Clay, Brent, all you hardcore casualties out there, where are you?

Really, you guys should call up and sign on together and request back to back trips. You'll see each other a lot more than you probably think and have a lot of fun, really.
