While at The Hellmanns' deck party we discussed the subject of kids and families in the BWA. (There were about a dozen kids in the 5 to 12 range there). The idea we kicked around was having a kid-oriented trip to the Hiwassee next summer, not kid-friendly, but kid-oriented. BWAers without kids would be welcome, but the trip would be focused on the kids.

We talked about the Hiwassee because we could rent rafts there and have a good time on the water without putting boat pressure on the kids, and also because of the dependable mid-summer water.

Not much to plan right now, but I wanted to put this out in public discussion so that folks would have in on their minds and kick some ideas around. My kid is 19 these days, but Denile and I would both still enjoy organizing and participating in a venture of this sort. Let's talk more about it and make some plans.

Sounds like a fantastic tradition to start. I'm a few years away yet but I love the idea.
