Thanks Jason. That helped. Normally I have no problems opening pdf files and in fact just posted one a few seconds ago. Go figure. My letters are going out today. You the man!

Thanks Jason and Bethany,

The letters to each are stamped and mailed. Looking forward to seeing this happen.

hey, i didn't do anything! it was all jason. and bubba did some proof reading.....

for those of you who don't know what stamps are, please use the links i posted earlier to copy and paste the message to the Congressmen. it takes less than a minute.

i think it may have taken me a total of 47 seconds. which is about the same amount of time it's going to take me to run the Elkhorn for the upcoming non-npff race..........

This is all Foley. He's the man!

Can we get this posted on the Viking website as well?

Let me pose another question....if feedback is due by Feb. 26, is that by midnight? If so, could we have a laptop at the NPFF where people could send in letters as well? What if we submitted a petition that arrived a little late, but asked for consideration....we could get 300 signatures over the weekend.

Hi All,
Back from our Western adventure ... after 8 straight days of snowboarding those long steep Western runs and an unbelievably wacky travel day Mon, Brit and I arrived noodle legged, and ragged at 1 am yesterday. Now finished with a pretty busy 24hrs in the ED I'm ready to go home and die, and then I will tend to this task. I have a few suggestions....
1. Has anyone posted this info to Boatertalk? I agree Vikings, Bardstown boaters, and other in state clubs need to be involved ... but good Lord this is a huge tourism potential for a poor part of our state, and as such his NEEDS to be more than just us! Get the whole boating community SE at least, and perhaps the whole Eastern US involved ASAP ..
2. Since we have extensive AW connections, and NPFF (though a good idea) may be to late, why can't we just get AW involved NOW? Why can't we have them print a call for action letters on the opening blurb page so when AW is opened, it's the first thing everyone sees today? What makes the Russell Fork Emergency different from the Upper Chattooga Emergency? I don't know these AW guys, but some of you do.
3. Add some brief changes at least initially to the letter telling about yourself to make your letter unique. I did this with my Chattooga letter. I used the initial letter as a form, but personalized it so it wasn't the same as the others. I think this is far more powerful than the Congressmen getting 100 letters that are obviously form letters. I think about it this way ... what if I were the Congressmen getting hundreds of letters every day asking me for this or that re: pending legislation. The ones that I would pay attention to would be the ones that stood out from the others in some way. JMHO anyway.
4. The Russell Fork offers something for just about everyone. It's dam fed, and there's usually plenty of water that unfortunately is often released overnight on weekdays that could be just as easily released on wkend days ... just for some wacked out reason that takes an act of Congress. Please help make that happen as if you don't know the RF yet, once you meet her, you'll want to go again and again.

All great points Wes. It has been on Boatertalk. I plan on reposting at least every couple of days to annoy the piss out of them till they submit to our request for letters. Usually the daily BS of BT will send the posts down into the hidden depths of semi-boating related junk.

A good point is that all of us can send this letter to our reps regardless of what state we are in. Has everyone already visited the congressional sites for the reps & Sens and filled their forms out or snail mailed their letters?

As for Bubba's Idea of a laptop "free the RF booth" at NPFF I will provide the laptop if the connection to the internet is present, there is space and we can use it. The NPFF coordinator will need to approve of course.

AW so far IMHO has been under-representated in this issue in the fact that the few of us who are members are recognized as AW members but that is about as hard line as its been. There have been no people in attendence as an exclusive representative of AW or speaking solely on its behalf. I am not too familiar with the AW folks but I am sure they will be supportive of what we are doing. Its an access issue just not a land access issue.

I have been incredibly busy working and traveling and have not had a lot of time for follow up to this so I hope there arent any other folks' questions still unanswered

I assume BT is wired, or has wireless downstairs, so by all means feel free to bring a laptop with the RF letter/info to the NPFF. we can find space for it.

Folks it is simple as cutting and paste the letter Jason posted above onto your own letter. See mine for example, attached hereto. Or email it. Just do it and get your friends to do it. Please.
