Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts
Kingsport
Founded in 1986, the Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APEs) has grown to be the premier paddling club in NE Tennessee, SW Virginia, and NW North Carolina. Our membership is comprised of individuals who enjoy paddling all types of self-propelled watercraft along the rivers of our region. The APEs provide the forum for individuals of our area to join together in order to help advance the sport of whitewater paddling, the skills of fellow paddlers, share information, and protect the rivers we love.

AW's original purpose since 1954 has been to distribute information among its Affiliate Clubs.
AW's relationship with local clubs has provided the backbone for much of the river conservation
and access work it accomplishes throughout the country. Over 100 clubs are now AW Club Affiliates
and they are all doing great work on your behalf. If you don't belong to a club, consider joining
one of the organizations found on this page.
