AW Opposes Zoning of Park Land for Development on Potomac

AW opposes the application for a zoning amendment and special exception that would allow Georgetown University to build a boathouse upstream of the Key Bridge on land owned by the National Park Service. The site will destroy open space, switch public use to elite private use, damage the ecosystem, increase the potential for flood damage, increase congestion, and damage scenery.

February 10, 2002: The Washington Post reports that millions of gallons of partially treated sewage was released into the Potomac at Hagerstown, MD, which is 60 miles upriver from Great Falls on Antietam Creek.
