| Account | Canyons between Salmon River and Heller Bar. The Grande Ronde comes in from river left (visible downstream in this photo by the green trees growing along the river bottom) as you approach Heller Bar. River access at Heller Bar dowstream river left of the confluence of the Grande Ronde with the Snake. The Snake makes a 90 degree turn to the left with the Clearwater coming in from the right. In this photo Lewiston, Idaho is to the right and Clarkston, Washington is to the left. Lewiston is a "seaport" due to the presence of the Lower Snake River dams which create a series of reservoirs that extend up to this point at river mile 139.2 |
