Account	One of the many drops below the diversion dam. We estimated flows to be about 400 cfs above the diversion dam and approximately 800 cfs a short distance below. Portage this structure through the woods on the right and don't get too close. This could also serve as an alternate put-in if you want to hike in on river right. Dozens of amazing waterfalls cascade into the gorge. You'll also find beautiful hanging gardens which make this one of the region's most scenic rivers. Near the end of the upper gorge a short distance upstream of the diversion dam. One of several technical class IV+ drops in the Upper Gorge. Better playspots can be found downstream on the lower section but this spot was good for a couple spins. Short pools separate the rapids and provide opportunities to enjoy the scenery. This is one of the early rapids just downstream of the old bridge which is just a couple of massive old-growth beams that span the river. Heading into one of the first rapids just downstream of the old bridge site. There was not much water at the start but there were several deep pools and plenty of flow to get you through the first few congested boulder gardens. This major debris slide, that occured with the storm providing flows for our trip, wiped out the forest road that provided historic access. The slope is an extremely unstable slurry of saturated soil and uprooted trees. Finding an alternate route is highly recommended as this added nearly an hour to our hike in. The hike in starts from Olney Pass on the PUD road which is well maintained so the first half of the hike goes quickly.
