| Account | A paddler plows through The Bump. The street sign, hung in the trees, warns paddlers of "The Bump". You can sneak The Bump on river right or take the plunge on river left. A nice line through the Falls. Would this be considered one or two nice lines through the Falls?? Its not hard to spot Nantahala Falls. Just look for a million people laughing, pointing and cheering. Then look downstream for whomever just got their butt handed to them running the falls. Once you see the landing you know Nantahala Falls is just around the corner. This is a great place to get out and scout or portage. The NOC wave is just downstream of the NOC Outfitter Store. The Wave is a great place to surf, spin and do whatever the newest, hottest playboat move might be. Patton's Run is the first, and one of the more difficult rapids on the Nantahala. Some paddlers opt to put in below this one. Quary Rapid gets its name from the quary next to it on river left. Quary Rapid changes regularly: It can be a wave, a play hole, or something in between. It all depends on how mother nature or the local paddlers have arranged the rocks recently. On this day Quarry was a wave. Surfing Rapid is one of the most popular play spots on the Nantahala. Whirlpool rapid gets its name from the unusually strong whirlpool-like eddy behind its rock on river left. Its a great place to stern squirt and surf. |
