Johns Creek is one of Virginia's whitewater treasures, with a well documented history of use. You can find descriptions in several guidebooks of classic rapids like Sirius the Dog Star, Royal Flush, Coke Island, Little Heinzerling, Bambi Meets Godzilla, Blind Man's Bluff, the Separator, and Fool's Falls. American Whitewater owns the traditional take-out for this run.
Unfortunately, a local landwoner claims to possess suffcient rights to prevent public navigation
of this section of John's Creek. American Whitewater has worked for many years to support
public enjoyment of John's Creek, and continues to do so. Would-be paddlers should be aware of
the likelihood of significant legal conflict between paddlers and the landowner if you chose to
paddle this section.
