This is a short, frolicking run that is very popular on the weekends. Here the gradient averages
13 feet per mile and the paddler will find rocky shoals (up to Class II+), quiet pools and rugged
bluffs. A favorite with whitewater enthusiasts, "surfing" is possible at higher water
levels.
There are inspiring views at Pinnacle Point Gap and Owl's Home Bluff and Bear's Cave are popular
attractions. This section has a number of shoals (Right Back At Ya, Daddy's Knee, etc) that
require good boat control. One rapid in particular, Cathedral Shoals, is Class III at optimum
levels (> 4.5 feet). The rapid is steep and requires maneuvering to avoid large rocks lying in
the middle of the channel.
This is an excellent winter run with many large ice formations on the bluffs in the colder days
of the year.

New Access to Cadron Creek!
We are very happy to announce that Mr. Johnny Weidower and his family has given permission for paddlers to access Cadron Creek via his property.
This new access point is about 6 river miles upstream of the Hwy 65 AGFC boat ramp.
Here’s what you need to know:
- *From Hwy 65 ramp, take Hwy 65 North to Old Hwy 65 to Pinnacle Springs Rd
- *Follow Pinnacle Springs road over Cadron Creek at the Pinnacle Springs bridge
- *After the bridge, take the THIRD left onto Wolf Branch Rd (Cargile Ln is first left; Passmore Ln is second left, but it is a dirt road and easy to miss).
- *At the third turn onto Wolf Branch you'll see a dilapidated wooden building on the far right corner from where you turn left
- *From Wolf Branch Rd take the first LEFT onto Cadron Lane, about 50 yards past the stop sign.
- *Straight ahead on Cadron Lane you will see a gate.
- *This is an active pasture with cattle, including a bull – IMMEDIATELY CLOSE GATE BEHIND YOU! GATE MUST STAY CLOSED AT ALL TIMES!
- IMPORTANT: Entering the pasture is not without risk; by doing so you become responsible for any damage to your vehicle and gear, and you become responsible for any injury to yourself.
- *The gate opens and closes easily simply by lifting a bar.
- *Please drive slowly and carefully to not unnecessarily add wear or tear to the road (low clearance vehicles may need to use caution!).
- *Be respectful of the cattle, and use caution around the bull (seriously).
- *After you come into the pasture, drive straight along the rough dirt road. This road will lead you all the way to the creek.
- *After you pass through an open fence on the far side of the pasture, there are a couple places where there are forks to the left: always stay straight/to the right - don't go to the left.
- *At the end of the road, please park to the LEFT, away from the picnic table, and park to leave plenty of room for others to come and go.
- The most cars can fit if you park perpendicular to the road on the left side, as if there were pull in parking spaces there.
- ***It might be better to not go down the very last incline...the last incline is much rougher and more likely to deteriorate, especially when using the road after recent rain. Instead...park to the RIGHT in the grassy area and just carry your boat down the last litte incline...it's just an extra 20 yards***
- *There is also a turn off to the LEFT in this same area...make sure you park so that you don't block access to the road to the left in any way.
- *Note that the bank to the river is VERY slick when muddy, so be careful!
- *Please enter gently/avoid seal launches from high on the bank so that we reduce our impact or erosion.
- *If you see the Weidowers while you are using this access, please give them a big smile, a friendly hello and thank you – they are being very generous to let paddlers continue to access this wonderful creek! THANK YOU TO THE WEIDOWERS!

IMPORTANT:
If you see ANY trash at the put-in, please do what you can to keep the area clean. If you see anything unusual (like trash, etc.), then please contact either Lupe (Heather Huckeba) or Captain Aleve (Mike Coogan) through the message board to alert us of any issues. Feel free to contact Heather or Mike with any other questions or concerns.
Note that the Arkansas Canoe Club is continuing to work towards establishing a permanent public access upstream of Hwy 65 on Cadron Creek, but this private access will allow paddlers to continue to enjoy this wonderful stretch of water while we continue our search.
