Bouncy wavetrains populate this small run.
Pairs nicely with Soldiers Creek, which flows into the Des Moines River just downstream of the
mouth of Lizard Creek.
Put in at any one of the bridges upstream and take out at the confluence with the Des Moines
River.
Multiple possible put-ins/take-outs (on 'main' and on South Branch), therefore Lat/Lng listed are
relatively meaningless, existing solely for general target location.
Best reference is the USACE Gauge.
River Mile: 3.7 miles above the mouth of the South Branch Lizard Creek
Drainage Area : 275.00 Sq.Mi.
Location of Gage : right bank upstream of the bridge on County Highway P41 and 4 miles northwest of Fort Dodge.
Experienced Recreational Paddlers: 5 to 6.5 feet
Experienced Whitewater Paddlers: 6.5 to 8 feet

river from Hwy.7 down to the confluence. Apparently signs warning to that effect have been erected
on this section of river. http://www.messengernews.net/page/category.detail/nav/5010.html
