River Description

Pleasant canoe/beginner-kayak trip; Fairly continuous rock-garden rapids for about 1.25 miles, followed by a mile of dead-flat paddle-out on a backwater bay of a flowage (reservoir) on the Wisconsin River.

This is likely to be done as a 'companion' run along with other short runs in the area, such as the New Wood, Pine Dells, Prairie Dells, Trappe, and so on.

Gauge Information

Gauge Description:

Visual inspection. Spring/heavy rains. Probably runnable when other runs in area are running high.

*Gauge cited is for the Prairie River, which lies about 7 miles to the Northeast. At it's gauge, the Prairie is 184 square miles. The Copper is approximately 96 square miles at the put-in. Thus flows might be expected to be about half of the flow of the Prairie gauge. Correlation should be fairly good but is not assured.

'Recommended minimum' and 'recommended maximum' are merely conjecture based upon remote analysis. Anyone who can provide more first-hand data is encouraged to do so using the "Add a Comment" button on the "Comments" tab.
