A new gauge was installed by the gauge master Tony Robinson. To see the gauge, drive a mile or so west of the intersection of Hwy 281 and Hwy 64 and turn left onto Upper Whitewater Road. Take this one mile and you will cross the Horsepasture. The gauge is on a rock pile on the downstream river left side. Stand on the bridge and look downstream for the best view. Though little correlation has been done, a basic range has been figured. 0 is not running at all, and 0.75 is quite high. Somewhere in there is a nice minimum and maximum, so if you do the run, do your duty and check the gauge and post a visual with date and time to the comments section on this streampage.
In January of 2007 a reported level of 0.35 was optimum with plenty of padding but not too much push. 0.5 is high, and 0.15 is around minimum. Due to the gauge not being completely vertical but angling out the further up the reading, the range is quite narrow on this gauge. Runnable levels should be 0.15 to 0.6 feet on the staff gauge
