Flows in lower Piru Creek are released from Santa Felicia dam for irrigation by downstream farmers. Most of the water sinks into the ground to recharge the aquifer. Farmers then pump the water out of the ground to irrigate their fields and orchards. The United Water Conservation District controls the flows and manages contracts with individual farmers.
Minimum flows from the dam are 8 to 10 cfs year round.
