Gauge Description:
Daniel Anderson testified:
The only gage for the Lower GunPowder is the gage painted on the US1/Belair Road Bridge. The gage is on the downstream side of the bridge on river left. I would consider 0Â to be the bare minimum to paddle. At 3Â it isnÂt too scrapy, 6Â is getting better, and I would consider 10Â to be the optimum. Higher than 1Â is a fun, fast run, but most of the play spots wash out or get vicious and trashy. If you canÂt get to the bridge to check the level, check out www.watershedshop.com for levels or look at the postings on www.baltimorecanoeclub.org , usually some people who live around there keep the rest of us updated on the status of the river.
