Biography: Taylor Robertson, age 27, of Chico,California has been in a kayak since he was 10 years old. He travels extensively, paddling prestigious rivers around the world. Currently, his focus is expedition kayaking and 1st descents, as well as promoting the sport through his photography. Taylor has numerous 1st descents credited to his name and he continues to push the limits of runnable whitewater. Considered one of the best he is a well-recognized athlete, and Taylor is a positive representative of the sport both on and off the water.

Taylor was a member of the 1999-2000 U.S. Freestyle Team and place 14th at the 1999 World Championships in Taupo, New Zealand. In 2000 he placed 3rd on the National Organization of Whitewater Rodeo’s (NOWR) circuit, proving that he is one of the most consistent paddlers in North America. In June of 2001 Taylor was one of 3 American paddlers invited to the prestigious “Big Water Invitational” event held in Canada where he placed 5th overall amongst the best big-water kayakers in the world. In 2004 Taylor completed the 1st descent of the Upper Kaweah river, considered the last major 1st descent left in California. He is currently a member of Dagger’s kayak team and is sponsored by numerous other companies such as Subaru and Kokatat.

Taylor is also a professional photographer and his work is published in numerous paddling and outdoor publications and catalogues. His photography skills and passion for kayaking have taken him to Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, Europe, and New Zealand.
