A woman died in a rafting accident on the Poudre River on Thursday.
Just before 1 p.m. Thursday, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of an empty commercial river raft in the Poudre River near the Greyrock Trailhead on Colorado Highway 14, according to a news release. Other rafters asked people passing by to call 911.
On their way to the scene, emergency personnel learned there had been an accident involving a group from a local rafting company, according to the news release. A woman was injured when the raft she was in hit a bridge pylon. She was receiving CPR on the riverbank when first responders arrived, according to the news release. A UCHealth ambulance crew transported the woman to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Larimer County Coroner's Office will release the woman's identity and cause of death at a later time.
All other people in the group were out of the water and uninjured when first responders arrived, the sheriff's office said in the release.
Larimer County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating this case, but spokesperson Ali Adams said no foul play is suspected at this time. The sheriff's office did not release the name of the rafting company involved. The Coloradoan will follow up with the sheriff's office at the conclusion of its investigation.
