5th Annual Paddle to the Sea with Tuolumne River Trust
5th Annual Paddle to the Sea: from Yosemite to San Francisco this May and
June
California's Tuolumne River Trust is
celebrating the 5th anniversary of their popular river adventure, Paddle to the Sea. This month long paddle-a-thon from
Yosemite, through the Central Valley, to San Francisco Bay brings together hundreds of people and
local businesses to raise awareness for river stewardship through whitewater rafting, canoeing
and kayaking. Most paddlers come along for a fun one-day paddle, and each year a few challenge
themselves to go the distance. All funds raised by Paddle to the Sea go directly to support the
Tuolumne River Trust's work to save the salmon, promote water conservation, and train the
next generation of river stewards by connecting kids to the river. This summer, TRT invites you
to get in on the action and choose your own adventure.
This year’s paddle-a-thon starts on May 17th with two days of whitewater rafting in the
Sierra, run by ARTA River Trips. Next, the group will travel through the Central Valley from May
25th to June 13th with a series of flat water canoeing days. These canoe trips are open to
everyone - from experts to people who have never been in a canoe before. Children over the age of
7 are also welcome to join in the fun. Next, there will be four days of sailing on the Delta from
June 15th – 18th, and finally two days of sea kayaking on June 22nd and 23rd, run by
California Canoe & Kayak.
Paddle to the Sea also showcases a series of riverside events, including a kickoff concert in
Groveland, CA featuring the Poor Man’s Whiskey on Saturday, May 18th and the Grand Finale
Party in San Francisco on Sunday, June 23rd.
AW encourages you to join Tuolumne River Trust for any of these very special days on the river!
