It’s Time to Support River Access in Colorado!
It’s that time of year again! Colorado Gives Day and early giving is happening now through December 10! Donate today to have your dollars go even further in supporting American Whitewater’s river access work in Colorado. We use this opportunity every year to raise awareness and financial support for our Colorado River Access Program. Now more than ever we are working to improve river access sites in Colorado and to secure better policies for the right to float on Colorado’s rivers.
What is Colorado Gives?
Community First Foundation and FirstBank partnered to make this time every year more rewarding for givers, nonprofits and communities across Colorado. Community First Foundation and FirstBank created a $1 Million Incentive Fund to proportionally increase the value of every donation made to nonprofits through the Colorado Gives Day program. For example, if American Whitewater receives 1% of the total amount donated on CO Gives Day (from folks like you) then we will receive an additional 1% of the $1 Million Incentive Fund ($10,000).
Additionally, this year, if you set up a monthly recurring donation then Colorado Gives will match it up to $100. Even if it’s just a small amount, you can have your impact doubled. There could not be a better time to support American Whitewater’s Colorado work!
Why donate to American Whitewater on Colorado Gives Day?
All donations made to American Whitewater between now and December 10 will be put towards our River Access Program in Colorado. American Whitewater works with landowners and managers, paddlers, law enforcement, and lawmakers to improve Colorado's river access laws and the ongoing threats to public safety. Colorado is the only state in the west that has yet to determine the extent of the public's rights to float and recreate on streams running through private property. American Whitewater is committed to finding long-term solutions for river access in Colorado and this program will support that work.
This program also supports on the ground river access improvements in Colorado. American Whitewater is partnering with the Gunnison National Forest to design and construct much-needed river access improvements on the Upper Taylor River. We anticipate breaking ground on construction in 2025 at the Slot Put In.
Donating to American Whitewater on Colorado Gives Day will ensure that your donation is increased by the $1 Million Incentive Fund, making the most of your donation to our work in Colorado.
Please consider donating today to help protect and improve river access throughout Colorado. You can make your donation here now and make sure you do it before the December 10 deadline.
The more you donate through Colorado Gives Day, the more American Whitewater receives from the Incentive Fund. Consider setting up a monthly recurring donation and Colorado Gives will match it dollar for dollar (up to $100)!
Thank you for supporting our Colorado River Access Program!
See you on the river,
Kestrel & Hattie
