Feather River Film Wins YouTube Contest
Earlier this year in January, American Whitewater teamed up with Lunch Video Magazine and Teva to challenge AW's members to create a video that highlights a favorite American Whitewater project. Participants put together film on their chosen AW project then took their final video and uploaded it to YouTube.
After the final submission deadline in June, AW's own staff voted on their favorite video and choose a submission by Eric Martin for his video on the Feather River in California. AW has been involved in the Feather River for some time and hopes to see the continued return of a healthy fish population in addition to opportunities for river enthusiasts to enjoy and experience the river.
Eric informed us that "the intent behind creating this project was for the sole purpose of promoting the actions undertaken by American Whitewater on the relicensing process of the North Fork Feather River, a sort of, “This is who we are, and this is what we can do.” I learned to kayak in the Chico area, which naturally includes the Feather River drainage, so I was able to foresee the opportunity to give back to AW."
Eric Martin; producer, director, and videographer of ‘North Fork Feather River, Process of
Progress’ established his whitewater roots in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains
of California. He made a natural progression of river guiding to kayaking to video
boating. This project was an opportunity to give back to American Whitewater. Eric
currently resides in Camden, Maine with his wife and daughter.
Congratulations to the winner Eric Martin and a big thanks to the contests sponsors Teva and Lunch Video Magazine for making it happen.
