Please beware and use caution, as actual river flows may be vastly different because of operational changes at the dams (e.g. if the powerhouse suddenly goes offline) or due to weather conditions (e.g. a summer rain event). These events can result in extreme changes (100s of cfs) without notice. The flow is also limited to the amount of inflow to the project. This typically affects the upper limit of the day 2 release on a weekend when flows are up to 450 cfs but limited by inflow to the project that could be considerably less. Additionally, the imprecise nature of the spill gate controls can result in variability of +-35 cfs. PacifiCorp will make a good faith effort to release the target amounts on the date and time specified, but all paddlers who enter the gorge need to be aware of the potential hazard of extreme changes in flows that can happen unexpectedly and without warning.
